Media representatives are invited to observe Exercise Engineer Thunder 2019


Media representatives are invited to attend Media Day of international Exercise Engineer Thunder 2019 at General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area (Pabradė region) on September 12.

Engineer Thunder 2019 is the largest exercise of Juozas Vitkus Engineer Battalion held since 2013. The exercise trains engineer support tasks, infantry maneuver support, integration of Land Force maneuver and territorial units and allies' units to act together and hone interoperability. Every second year the exercise includes units of NATO allies' units and the number of participating combat engineers is constantly increasing. This year Lithuanians are training in the exercise and perfecting military engineer skills together with colleagues from the United States, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Latvia, Belgium, and Poland. The exercise is expected to be visited by Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Tom Wolf, battalion commanders of participating Dutch and U.S. units, officers of the Lithuanian Land Force battalions.

Exercise Media Day event will take place on September 12 at 1000¬-1500 hrs. Those willing to attend should register until September 11, 1200 hrs, at [email protected] or 00370 654 92 864. Information required for registration: full name, media organisation, contacts (cell phone number, e-mail address).

Media representatives will need to have personal ID document and press card of the represented news organisation at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area.

Freelance and foreign reporters have to get accreditation with the MoD Strategic Communication and Public Affairs Department to attend. Send a filled out questionnaire form, and a copy of personal ID document to [email protected].
